Here is where you can catch up on our latest and greatest, from people, to places, to happenings, if it's a JW thaing, you'll hear about it here!

August, 2010

Not a whole lot has changed in our world in the past several months.  JW has been busy running around the state and sitting in with blues players from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale to Sanford.  Keith has decided that 4 strings is, indeed, better than six and has been playing bass with Anthony Wilde and the Suspects, a Daytona band. So, in addition to our drummer du jour, we also have a guitarist du jour, and different players means a different JW experience every show.  Most recently, we've had the honor of having Joe "Survival" Caruso play with us.  He's a veteran touring musician and he wound up in these parts after being chased out of New Orleans by the post-Katrina flood.  He's an amazing player, very old-school and subtle, and that compliments JW's style perfectly.  You really get the jook-joint feel when Joe's playing with us.

In some other news, we now have a Facebook group!  It makes it very easy to send out notifications of upcoming gigs and share pictures and stories.  You can get there by clicking here.  Head on over and join the group!

Just 'cause the news is slow, don't mean we ain't workin'!.

Recently, JW was interviewed by a Palm Coast radio station, Beach 92.7, for a show called Club927.  The interview is interspersed with cuts from the CD and from recordings JW made with Tabby Thomas.  You can listen to it from this link http://www.beach927.com/index.php  Be warned: the one from 92.7 is over 50 minutes long and may take a while to download.  There is an edited version on our Press page (it's still a bit over 20 minutes long).

We are looking at a slow holiday schedule this year so far, but things always pop up at the last minute, so be sure and check the calendar for the latest.

Ok, Ok, no excuses, I said.  Well, as always, the best laid plans of mice and men....

Finally, after a lot of searching, trial software, work conflicts, family issues and what not, I finally found a website management/HTML editor that my rudimentary programming skills can tackle, the Namo WebEditor.  Ever since my XP system that had my copy of FrontPage crashed, I haven't been able to properly update the site.  Now that's changed and I'll be posting some pics from several gigs over the last couple of years and a couple of new recordings.  Check them out in the Picture Gallery and the Audio and Video Samples.

Perhaps the biggest news is that our intrepid hero JW recently won awards in the 2009 Florida Harmonica Championships held in New Smyrna Beach on August 16th!  He won a "Contender" award for the championship and won the "Best Showman" award - no surprise there!  I should have some pics on the site soon.  Come on out and hear the champ!

Otherwise, things are somewhat the same.  JW lives in Palm Coast now, Keith is mainly sticking to his modified PRS guitar and I've brought my often-requested KYDD electric upright bass out of mothballs.  I'm now using that as my primary bass and my Warwick as my alternate/backup.  On the drummer front, we still don't have a "steady freddie".  We alternately use Phil Reed, Ken Royal, Bruce Stewart and Gary Peterson when their schedules permit.

Remember, you can get your copy of "Choice Cuts, Volume 1" at CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/jwgilmore and you can get t-shirts, bumper stickers, hats and the coveted JW Gilmore thong underwear by following our "Shameless Swag" link.   Hope to see you at a gig soon!

Ok, Ok, no excuses, we know.  Sometimes that "real world" thing gets in the way and Coop having to replace his PC put a bit of a bottleneck in these updates.  It doesn't help that Word is not the best HTML editor and Coop's just now getting into Dreamweaver.  The learning curve is not so fast with this borderline luddite of a bassist we have.

The other real reason is that nothing much has changed.  We are still gigging in St. Augustine, JW is still fighting feedback problems, Coop hasn't bought any new gear (well, not too much) and we haven't made a whole lot of progress on the new CD.  We didn't play out a whole lot in the last quarter of '08 but '09 is looking great!  Check out the calendar for details, but here are a few highlights:

  • St. Augustine Bluzfest - this is an annual festival that, in the past, has been held in several different venues around town but will be in one place this year.  We will be performing both Friday and Saturday at Hurricane Patty’s on an outdoor stage.  There will be some great acts from Tony O and the Tornadoes on Friday to Calvin Newborn and Zora Young on Saturday to Funk Shuei and The Bones on Sunday.  More information on the fest can be found at http://www.bluzcompany.com/.
  • JT's Seafood Shack - for those of you keeping score at home, we played JT’s a few times last year.  We love this place – the folks are great, the tiki bar is a hoot and food is fantastic!  This is also a great stop for those of you who cruise on two wheels (or three like Coop).  Very biker-friendly, good beer selection, great food and at a great spot on A1A to cool your pipes for a while.
  • Rhythm and Ribs - April 4th, we will be playing a 3-hour set ahead of festival headliner, Leon Russell!   In the past, the Sunrise Rotary has brought us James Cotton and now Mr. Russell!  What a treat and what an honor to open for him.  Don’t miss this show – it’s only a couple of bucks to get into the festival, you can pig out on competition-level barbecue (it is a professional barbecue competition) and see us and Leon Russell.  We go on at 5pm, Leon hits the stage at 8pm.

On the personnel front, we have not made any major changes, but because of Bret's schedule issues, we have been graced with the talents of Ken "Rim Shot" Royal on the drums for many of our performances.  Ken is a great player, a veteran player who has played with many major names and a host of local bands, most notably, The Roland Fleming Connection.  Ken was our "steady Freddie" some years ago, moved away but then moved back.  We’re glad to see him!

February, 2008

Long time, no hear, my friends.  Sorry for the delay in news, but between the holidays and plenty on my personal plate, the news has languished.  Well, here’s the first installment of the new year, just a month late…

We would like to invite you down to an upcoming gig to meet our newest regular member, Bret Obin.  Bret is an experienced drummer, been playing for years in many touring bands, and he landed in Palm Coast.  He’s another drummer we first met at the Daytona jam session and he’s a great addition.  You’ll still see Phil from time to time, but his plate got really full playing with Jan Crawford and her Goldmembers.  So Bret’s been with us since the second Zhanras gig as our steady Freddie on the skins.

Otherwise, life has proceeded on.  Ja has moved to Palm Coast to be closer to his work, Keith and Bret are working on a jazzy side project and Coop is enjoying riding his new trike when gigs and weather permit.

One important gig of note coming up is the Rhythm and Ribs festival on the 15th of March.  We will be playing in the early afternoon (12:30 start), but later that night, the festival will welcome the return of blues legend James Cotton!  He was en fuego last year and I’m sure he will be this year as well.  He starts up later in the evening, around 8pm.  Come on out, see us and hang around for some of the best blues from a master!

December, 2007

Big news for us!  Just after we pulled the plug on the European Village gigs, we were asked to play at a relatively new venue for us, Zhanra’s.  It’s a fairly new restaurant on Anastasia Island, where the Seafood Kitchen used to be.  Oddly enough, right across A1A from the building Allison’s was in.  Talk about old-home week!  Anyway, we played there and they loved us.  We are used to playing on the island, what with St. Augustine’s finest sitting in parking lots with loudness meters and ticketing bands that are too loud too late.  So, when we played at Zhanras, we knew the drill.  We kept it pretty quiet with just Ja, Keith and Coop and between the enthusiastic crowd response and our moderate volume, we were quite the hit.  So much so, that they’ve asked us to play every Wednesday in December.  Up until recently, there was a blues jam hosted by the Ancient City Blues Society on Wednesdays, but, like most all jam sessions, the volume got out of control too often, so management wanted to make a few changes.  Since there the jam session had started a Wednesday night blues tradition, they decided to book us to keep the flame going!  It’s so strange, because the band really started coming together back in 2004 and 2005 when we played every Wednesday at Allison’s, so it’s a lot like “back to the future” for us.  So, if you don’t mind a smoky bar (it is a cigar bar), the blues are alive on Wednesday nights in the Ancient City.  The bar is great – full service with beer, a great wine selection and full bar as well as delicious tapas from the restaurant.  There’s not a lot of room for dancing, but we seem to keep filling up that floor!

Another great thing about this place is that it’s exposing us to a whole new audience.  Zhanra’s is one of the bars for the local “see and be seen” crowd, usually a mid 20’s to mid 30’s demographic that we don’t see too often.  With the resurgence in roots music, our kind of blues gets right to the “root” of the matter.  Many of the folks have never heard these tunes before, so it’s a brand new experience for them.  Great stuff.  There’s also a great mix of blues lovers, musicians and partiers of all ages and walks of life.  It’s a fun place and I hope we’ll see you there.

November, 2007

Well, fall is firmly upon us, some of the best weather we get here in NoFla!  On the second, we got to enjoy some of that outdoor weather at the Lincolnville Festival here in St. A.  It was a beautiful night, great crowd and everyone had a great time.  Even Joseph came out of his cave to play organ – it was a great night.

Now that the weather is turning iffy for outdoor gigs, we’re not going to be playing the European Village anymore.  Unfortunately, their stage area has no decent cover, so all of our equipment is exposed to the elements.  Not bad if it’s not raining or there’s no dew, but that’s not this time of year!  We have also had a few other differences of opinion, so we have decided to pass on further performances there.

October, 2007

As JW says, one door closes, another one opens.  Last week, JW ran into an old friend of ours, Cesar, down at the European Village in Palm Coast.  We’ve known Cesar since the Allison’s days, when he would come in and add a latin flair to the jam.  He’s a great guitarist with a lot of soul and a smokin’ Parker Fly guitar!  Anyhoo, JW and Cesar started talkin’ and we wound up getting every Friday in October at the stage!  For those of you who have been following us for a while, you know that we’ve played European Village several times and love the venue – I think there are even some pics of an EV gig over in the Picture Gallery.  It’s outside, a great stage and great people to work with.  We’re looking for some great nights coming up (except for this never-ending rain…) and we may even coax Joseph out of his hole to join us with that heavenly Hammond!

September, 2007

The dog days of Summer are behind us and the first tastes of fall (highs in the low 90's) have finally arrived.  That means some great nights for outdoor shows like the Pizza Garden - if the rain holds off...

The bad news is that the Gypsy Cab Co. has decided to pull the plug on Blues, Brews and Barbecues.  No more blues on Sunday in St. Augustine.  Attendance had been slow for the first couple of weeks and the 16th's record low turnout (2 tables and 3 at the bar for a grand total of 9!) prompted the management to end the series.  We had a good run, a bit over 6 months, and want to thank all of our fans that stood by us and came out to support live blues in the Ancient City.  I have a feeling  the change was due to the return of the Comedy Club and that we just weren't packing the house every week.  The blues audience is a small but mighty crowd and, although most everyone you ask will claim to be a blues lover, few actually go out to hear the blues on a regular basis.  We made a lot of good friends during our Gypsy run and had a lot of good times.   Although it's a setback, we still have other shows coming up where you can get your blues fix.

For example, we'll be at the Pizza Garden on the 28th, so come on out and get a pizza pie with extra blues!

Boy, Summer has come with a vengeance!  The heat is here and the rain is strill staying away.  Well, it looks like it will be, in the words of Bananarama, "a cruel, cruel Summer."

Our Sunday gig at the Gypsy is now reaching record numbers with the time change.  We had a full house all day on the 3rd, and I hope it will keep up!  We had a feeling that an early evening would be a better call, even with the competition from Reggae Sunday.   Thanks to all of you who are coming out on Sundays and putting a blusy end to your weekend.

On the 23rd, we played a new venue for us, the Frisky Mermaid in Fernandina Beach.  It's a pretty cozy room in the oldest B&B in Florida.   Great crowd and the best mojitos in North Florida!  It's a bit of a hike for us, but worth the trip.  Despite the Folio Weekly's warnings to keep the volume down, we were still told to keep it down a bit - I'm sure power drummer Bruce Stewart added to that!  A fun gig at a real historical landmark.

May, 2007

Busy, busy busy.  We've been hitting the bars and venues around and even had a three-gig weekend recently.  We were called at the last minute for a Friday at an old favorite, the Blue Room at Bourbon Street Station in Jacksonville.  The next day was a festival gig at the "Taste of the Blues" festival in St. Augustine and, of course, our usual Sunday "Blues, Brews and Bar-B-Qs" at the Gypsy.  Whew!  Bourbon Street was a blast as always.   That's a fun place to play and a very different crowd.  The Saturday festival was the inaugural festival for the newly-formed Ancient City Blues Society and showcased some great talent including us, the BoxRockers  and IBC winner Joey Gilmore from Ft. Lauderdale.  We had a rocking Sunday after that at the Gypsy with a great crowd and the wonderful Gypsy hospitality.  For this whole weekend, we had our original drummer, Tom Santoni sitting in and what a treat that was.  Tommy "Two Shoes" was our drummer when The Blues Authority formed from the jam sessions at Allison's and was the drummer for our CD "Choice Cuts, Volume 1."

The Blues, Brews and Bar-B-Qs series of Sunday afternoon shows is still going strong.  The Gypsy Cab folks are wonderful folks for sponsoring this and we need your support to keep this thing going.  If you're looking for a great Sunday afternoon get-away, you can get $8 bar-b-q plates, $2 Buds and all the free blues you can handle from 2:30-5:30.  Come on out and help us keep the blues alive!

NEWS FLASH - the Blues, Brews and Bar-B-Qs series of Sunday afternoon shows is changing times!  Starting with the June 3rd show, we'll be starting at 5:30 instead of 2:30.  Ever since we started playing this series, the audience has asked us to start later in the day.  Pat and Ned agreed, and so we're now a Sunday evening happening.  That should make it better for folks who want to stop off on their way home from the beach or downtown sightseeing instead of being smack dab inthe middle of the afternoon.  Plus, it's still pretty odd to be playing blues while the sun is shining.

Speaking of the Sunday gigs, a couple of weeks ago, Rick Grant, a contributor to the weekly newspaper EntertainingU came out to see what the hullaballoo is all about. He had seen us before, up at Your Place in Jacksonville, but it had been a while. He gave us a great review with this quote: "JW & TBA kick butt." Now, you can't ask for better praise than that. You can read all of Rick's review by following this link: http://www.eujacksonville.com/pages/05-24-07/jwgilmore.htm.

April, 2007

Wow, I've been busy with other stuff and the poor li'l ol' news has been neglected.  Well, I'm back on it.

Last month, our gig at Rhythm and Ribs was a great success - for the 20 or 30 that braved the tropical rain that came down during our entire set.  Damn.  It was a great set up and, despite the surroundings, we gave a pretty good show.  We finally had to bail when Joseph's organ was starting to fill up with water and I was waiting for the amp rack to start shooting fireworks.  Saturday's weather was perfect for Cotton's performance.  A rare treat in St. A.

Some of the big news for now is that St. Augustine is going to have a blues festival!  A new blues society, the Ancient City Blues Society, is combining with  EPIC services to produce a blues festival to go with the annual Celebration of Spring/Taste of St. Augustine festival.  This will be held on the 28th at the brand spankin' new St. Augustine Amphitheatre (of "Cross and Sword" fame for you old-timers).  We heard rumors about this festival several months ago, but nothing after that.  Then, early this month, we got a call from the Society letting us know our time slot.  Hello!  I'm glad we had penciled the date in and nothing else came up.  So, we're performing from 4:30 to 6pm.  The big headliner for the festival is IBC winner and personal friend of JW's Joey Gilmore!  This will be one hot hot show.  If you haven't heard any of Joey's stuff, haul butt to his website - www.joeygilmore.net - and check him out.  I sat in with him when he attended JW's wedding and he's a fantastic talent and a great person. JW was in his band down in Ft. Lauderdale for a few years, so don't be surprised if JW sits in with Joey for a few tunes.

Another gig of note this month is a new venue for us, Wine Pairings on Palm Coast Parkway.  We'll be playing there on the 21st.

February, 2007

While we are still enjoying a bit of wintertime hibernation, there are a few very notable bits of news on the horizon.

We will be playing on the 25th at Gypsy Cab Co. in St. Augustine from 2-6pm.   Kind of like a blues answer to Reggae Sundays, we hope to take over the comedy club with blues lovers - "Blues, Brews and Bar-B-Qs".  JW's been trying to get something started there for years, especially since the demise of the blues jam at Allison's.  Well, like the proverb says: "be careful what you wish for"!   We now have this gig and, hopefully, it'll turn into a regular happening.  The Gypsy will have the bar open and will be offering a special bar-b-q plate.

Well, Sunday was a resounding success!  The turnout was big (so big they ran out of food at the very end) and the show was great!  Many thanks to those of you who came out and supported live blues in St. Augustine.  It looks like we'll be doing this on a regular basis, so come on out Sunday and get your "Blues, Brews and Bar-B-Qs"!

I got an email from Michael Areford, better known to the Jax blues scene as "The Arf", and he let us know that our cut "Can't Get No Grindin' (What's the Matter With the Mill)" from our Choice Cuts CD was ranked #5 out of 658 songs featured on his web station "The Blues Basement"  Quite an accomplishment for your hometown blues heroes!   Thanks, Arf,  for keeping the blues (and us) on the "air"!

We're confirmed for the Rhythm and Ribs festival in St. Augustine as the headline act for Friday the 30th from 7:45 - 10pm.  Of course, the big news for this festival is that the Saturday headliner is blues superstar James Cotton!  You'll probably never get a chance to see a blues legend this up-close-and-personal again, so come on out (but don't forget Friday night too...).

January, 2007

Happy 2007, everybody!  The band rang in the new year at Papagallo's Bistro on St. Augustine Beach, with a rowdy crowd, a bluesy "Auld Lang Syne" and a beautiful night!  Many of our friends and fans were there and we thank you for coming out and sharing your NYE with us!

The wacky cold/hot weather has played havoc with our outdoor gigs at The Pizza Garden and European Village, so we're staying indoors for a few months.  We've got a couple of private parties so far this month and we're beating the bushes for a new St. Augustine venue to get us through the winter months.

As far as gigs on the radar, we have been contacted to headline one of the days at this year's Rhythm and Ribs Festival in St. Augustine on the last weekend in March.  We are also in discussions to play a few nights in New Orleans in February, at the House of Blues and a couple of private events - this is still in the discussion phase, but I'll keep you posted on that!  There is also discussion of a venue-based blues festival in St. Augustine in late February and we have been told that we are playing, but we haven't heard the details yet.

December, 2006

Well, I've been pretty lax on the news front - not that there hasn't been anything to talk about, but having a day job as well as being the band webmeister has its disadvantages...

First, the biggest news, I would guess, is the marriage of JW.  JW got married on November 11th at Papagallo's, a St. Augustine beachfront hotel, a lovely spot for a beautiful celebration and a great party!  Our buds the Out of Hand band led by Jeremy King played the party and we all had a great time.  JW and the boys got up for a set but Keith sat out.  Why, you may ask?  Well, the six-string spot in the band was filled by JW's former bandleader and this year's International Blues Challenge winner, Joey Gilmore!  What a treat to play with a blues powerhouse and the two of them led a great set!  A night to remember for sure, and we all wish JW and Cindy well on their new life together!

On other news, we've been staying pretty much around town for the last couple of months, playing mainly at the Pizza Garden and European Village and, of course, our traditional appearances for Alfredo Klaus at his jewelry stores' holiday shopping receptions.  While the Pizza Garden gigs will be fewer and fewer as the weather gets colder and colder, when the Spring comes, they are looking at making the patio into a full-blown music destination!  Keep your eyes open for that.

For a bluesy new years eve with fireworks over the sands of St. Augustine Beach, join us at Papagallo's (300 A1A Beach Blvd St. Augustine, FL 32080 (904) 471-2575)!  Papagallo's is the club at the St. Augustine Beach Resort, right at the north end of St. Augustine Beach and has a lovely view of the ocean and the pier - the perfect place to ring in 2007!  Come on out and goodbye to 2006 and hello to 2007 with us!

October, 2006

After a couple of weekends off in September, we have hit the clubs for October.  Fortunately for the St. Auggie/Daytona fans, we'll be mainly at home and points South this month.  We start off in our new St. Augustine homes of the Pizza Garden on the Island and Hurricane Patty's.  These places are smaller, more intimate clubs than we play up in Jax, so it gives you a chance to get "up close and personal" with Ja and the boys.  Plus, these gigs are early - 6pm to 10pm - so it's great for a dinner out and an early night for us!  Dragging in at 3am does get old after a while...  Check the calendar for where we'll be this month, but we only have one Jax gig at Your Place on the 28th.  Other than that, it's St. A or Palm Coast all month.

Shout outs to all the fans that have been dropping by at Hurricane Patty's and the Pizza Garden.  We've made a lot of new friends of the last few weeks and been called  the best blues band in North Florida on more than one occasion.  It makes us humble and happy to get that kind of compliment.

On the personnel front, Joseph is still on the DL with a mysterious nerve problem that has all but paralyzed his right hand.  His inscrutable Chinese doctor is taking care of him, but it's taking a while to heal up.  Of course, Joseph's chomping at the bit to play but none of us cherish the thought of hauling the Hammond and the Motion Sound around.  Coop has a new addition to the family.   No, not a baby, but a new bass.  It's mainly a backup to his regular lit-up fretless, but also gives him a different set of sounds to play with.  Keith also picked up a new axe, so the band sound keeps changing and evolving.

September, 2006

September has us continuing our string of wife and fiancee-infuriating weekend gigs, hopping back and forth between Jax and St. Augustine.   The Pizza Garden and Hurricane Patty's have taken the mantle of being St. Augustine's blues venues - you have a good chance hearing some good blues at either venue, any weekend.  Keep those blues alive!  Of course, if you choose to get your blues fix on the weekend, we'd love to have us be your dealer!

Just recently, we contracted to perform at a festival in Gainesville - the Fall Arts and Crafts Festival - where they have a blues night on the Friday of the festival.  This year that's November 3rd and JWG and the TBA will be the "regional" act, right in the middle of the evening.  Put that on your calendars, 'cause it looks to be a real wang-dang-doodle!  The big headliner of the evening will be none other than blues legend Eddie Kirkland!   This will be an unforgettable night, under the stars, beautiful art and some smokin' blues.

August, 2006

Wow, it's steamy hot and our schedule is blazing as well!  Gigs every weekend, so there's no reason not to get your JW fix either in Jax or St. Auggie.  Check out the calendar for when we'll be playing near you.

Our gigs at the Pizza Garden on the Island were great.  An outside gig in August, of course it was hot, but great crowds each night and a lot of old St. A friends from the Allison's days.  It was great seeing you guys and I hope this turns into a regular thing!  On the 11th and the 25th, we'll be back at an old haunt we haven't seen since New Years Eve of 2005, Hurricane Patty's.  They've got a new stage and we're looking forward to their mix of sailors, bikers and St. A regulars.  We've always had fun at HP's and look forward to this month's gigs.

In addition to The Pizza Garden, we're also haunting St. A in one of our old haunts, Hurricane Patty's!  The last time we played there was New Years Eve 2004, but on the 11th, we made a return appearance, and we'll be back again on the 25th.

July, 2006

We have had a busy month so far and it's just started!   On Friday the 1st, we rocked the Serenata Beach Club with a poolside show.   What a great bunch of folks and a great crowd.  They were really into the blues and even kept us playing for an extra set so they could get their dancing in.    On the 4th, we'll be playing the main amphitheatre on the riverfront for Palatka's fireworks.  Starting at 6, we'll be bluesing out this normally sleepy river town with a 4th show they won't soon forget!

In case you missed it, last month, we were reviewed by Entertaining U's Rick Grant.  He wrote a great article about our show at Your Place on Atlantic Blvd. in Jax.  Here's a link to the review: http://www.entertainingu.com/pages/6-15-06/p19.htm.   Thanks Rick and thanks EU!

The rest of July will be a little quiet for us, with Coop's wedding on the weekend of the 8th, but we'll be back in the saddle on the 21st for a Friday at Calico Jack's.

We've just gotten a flurry of gigs for August (check the calendar for details) with a new addition, the Pizza Garden in St. Augustine Beach!  Great place that's been booking great local acts and it's always good to get a gig close to home - gas money sure eats into that end of the night payout!

The big news on the personal front is that Coop got married.  Yup, on July 8th, Coop and his girlfriend Robin tied the knot.  Phil's party/cover band 3D played for the reception with a guest appearance by JW and the rest of the band.  Additionally, Coop and a couple of his bandmates from DC took the stage and closed the night out with some great jazz.  Congrats Coop and Rob!  If you want to see pics of the festivities, you can surf over to www.bradandrobin.net.

June, 2006

June has been pretty busy for us, hitting Bourbon Street Station, Your Place and My Place, with great crowds and fun times.  On Friday the 2nd, our good friend Jeremy King, leader of the band "Out of Hand" joined us for the night at the Blue Room.  Adding his soulful sax was a great addition and we all had a great time.  We haven't played with him since the days of the blues jam at (the now closed) Allison's in St. Auggie.

Probably the biggest news for the site is the addition of some videos of our performance at the Springing the Blues festival back in April.  These are viewable on the site by following the navigation link to the "Audio and Video Samples" page.  Although the crew didn't start the tape rolling until we were about halfway into the set, they still captured some good stuff.  If you haven't been to a show and you want to get a taste of JW's special sauce, surf over there and get some.  You'll see.

Next month starts off with the second annual  "Brews, Blues and Barbecues" at the Serenata Beach Club (private club - membership required) in South Ponte Vedra.  On the 4th, we're scheduled to play at the riverfront Independence day festival in Palatka just before the fireworks.  That should be a blast (couldn't resist)!

May, 2006

Our May has started with a great weekend at one of our favorite haunts, Bourbon Street Station.  While it's probably not the first place the Jacksonville blues crowd thinks of for their blues fix, it's getting there.  We're starting to get a crowd of regulars and it's great to see you goys come out!

This month also was our inaugural gigs at a new club for us, My Place at the corner of Baymeadows and Old Baymeadows in Jacksonville.  We've played there twice this month and what a fantastic place!  The first gig, on a Wednesday, was the wildest weeknight party I've ever seen.  The place was packed, the crowd was awesome and there was a lot of sexy dancing and hot bods at play.  The following week, we played a Friday.  Hokey Smokes!  It was just like the Wednesday - only better.   Great crowd and a lot of folks who had never been exposed to the type of blues we play.  It was called "soulful", "real", "honest" and we got a lot of new fans.  I have a feeling we'll be playing there a lot in the near future...

On a more somber note, one of our founding members, our organist Joseph Iannelli, will be taking a bit of a hiatus for a while to deal with some family business.  We've tried to have other keyboardists cover every now and then, but it's just not the same without "Joey duh Eye".  He'll be playing in with us from time to time, but not regularly.  As a result, we've re-tooled some of our sound and songlist to reflect the quartet.  It's a rather different sound, but a good one.   While we miss Joseph, the 4-piece rocks!  One longtime fan was reeeeeal skeptical (and let me know it), but by the end of the night, she was very plesantly surprised.  Come on out and see the new setup - you won't be disappointed!

This month, we'll be at Calico Jacks, Your Place and then in July it's back to Bourbon Street Station and My Place!  Navigate to the calendar for more details.  Come on out and enjoy our early summer with JW and the boys!

April, 2006

WOW!  That's all we can say after opening up North Florida's biggest blues festival, Springing the Blues on April 1st at the Jax Beach amphitheatre.  It was a busy day, with a set from 12-1 on the big stage, 2:15-3:00 on the West stage and then a full night at our favorite haunt, Bourbon St. Station.  Ja opened the festivities with a soulful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and we followed it up with the hottest blues that stage has seen in a long time!  It's a real rush to play for 2000+ blues fans and I'm sure some of you were out there and I know we made some new fans.  There are new pics available of the day in the picture gallery.

On April 6th, we'll be back at Spare Time Tavern in Jax Beach opening for Walter "Wolfman" Washington!  This man is a blues powerhouse, one of the best blues guitarists around.  You'll be sorry if you miss this one!  We'll be on around 8pm to get the crowd in the blues mood - come on out, support us and enjoy a great bluesman's performance! (Update - what a great performer!  The band was amazing and the Wolfman was mesmerizing - what a showman!)

On the 7th and 8th, we'll be back at Bourbon Street Station.   There's a movement afoot to get "The Blue Room" bar there at the station to be a regular blues venue.  We could stand to have a regular home of the blues here in North Florida since St. Augustine's blues scene has gone the way of reggae and Phish-heads.  If you want a home for the blues here in NEFL, come on out and support the Blue Room.  Talk to Chris the bartender and tell him you want to know that you can always come to the Station and hear some good, live blues.  We've had some great crowds there and it's a fantastic venue with great people.  Let's show 'em what can happen when a buch of blues-lovers get organized!  "Blues for the Blue Room!"

If you're reading this, I know you like your blues.  If you'd like some fries with that - or some slaw with that - or especially some barbecue with that, come on out to the special events field in St. Augustine on the 8th for the annual Rhythm and Ribs festival.  This is a judged BBQ competition with champions from around the country competing for the blue ribbon and your taste buds!  JW and TBA will be playing from 3:30 - 5pm, so come get some blues with that BBQ!

On the 14th, we have the Spare Time Grille and Tavern to ourselves to get ready for opening for Smokin' Joe Kubick on the 15th!  That's right, the big headliner from Springing the Blues will be on stage at one of the best clubs at the beach and we're opening for him!  Check out Spare Time's website for more info and ticket information, but this one should sell out fast!

March, 2006

When it rains, it pours!  This month is going to be a busy one for us and you've got lots of chances to see us both in Jacksonville and Daytona!

Hold on to your hats...  On the 1st, we'll be the featured act at the Daytona Blues Society's Wednesday night blues Jam over at the Bank and Blues on Main Street in Daytona Beach.  It's Bike Week, so the crowd should be great!  On the 3rd and 4th, We'll be back at Bourbon Street Station in Jax, the 9th at Caribbean Jack's (a new venue - Yea!) in Daytona, 10th and 11th at Spare Time in Jax Beach and Bourbon Street Station again on the 17th and 18th.  Whew!  A busy month, but the right kind of busy.  For more details, click on the "Calendar" link.

This month, we're introducing a bunch of new material including some old R&B, done the JW way.  If you haven't been out to see us in a while, come on out and dance the night away!

NEW DATE! On Friday, the 24th, we'll be playing at Your Place near the corner of Atlantic and Kernan in Jacksonville, starting around 9:30.   This is a great club, the folks are real friendly and we usually get a great blues crowd turnout.  Come on out and party with JW and March Madness!

Plus, next month, an April 6th, we'll be back at Spare Time Tavern in Jax Beach opening for Walter "Wolfman" Washington!  This is going to be a fantastic show with a real blues legend.  We can't wait for this one!  Get your tickets early from Spare Time,

February, 2006

Just as the chill of our (blessedly short) winter sets in, the band has never been hotter!  On Friday the 10th, we were one of the opening acts for national touring artist Debbie Davies at the Spare Time Grille and Tavern.   Ja and I have been soliciting the owners for a while and when they gave us our chance, they were floored!  Just before we started into our closing song, one of the owners jumped up on stage, grabbed one of the mics and shouted to the audience: "you guys want to hear more of these blues?  We'll they'll be right here on March 10th and 11th!"  Wow.  A follow-on gig before we even finished the set.  It was a great night and the crowd loved us.  Thanks for the chance, guys!   This was also our first full-band gig with Phil Reed, a fantastic drummer from Daytona Beach.   I think you'll be seeing him a lot from now on.  Also at the gig was Arf, the Jacksonville radio DJ from 100.7 who does the Blues Basement show on Sunday mornings.  I've been talking and emailing him for a few months now and it was great to finally meet him and for him to get a chance to see us and hear us live.  He's been playing us on the air for a while and we're really thankful for the support and his support for the blues in general.  He has a great show, on 100.7FM on Sundays.  At 9am. it's the House of Blues Radio Hour followed by Arf's two-hour show.  Listen in and help support the blues on the First Coast.

Our private party gig on the 11th was a blast as well.  Big party, big house, wet sidewalks, awesome crabcakes, lots o' Crown Royal, pink Keith, late Phil, great hosts, great time. We're hoping to get some more party work down in Palm Coast, a short drive and a bunch of folks hungry for the blues.

We've got a lot of gigs coming up in the next few months - in fact, next month will start off with 3 booked weekends in a row!  Now that's the kind of busy I like! (Although I wish we would get a St. Augustine booking every now and then...)  Come on out and see us!  We've added several new tunes and new arrangements, so there's no better time for a JW fix than now!

January, 2006

The rumors are true!  On February 10th, we will be opening for national touring performer Debbie Davies at the Spare Time Tavern in Jacksonville Beach!  Come on out and hear some great blues and support your local boys in a new venue for us and a place getting known for some great talent.

Even more big news!  We will not only be performing at this year's Springing the Blues festival on April 1st, we will be opening the fetstival!  That's right!  We have been asked to perform the honors of opening the festival with an hour-long set on the main stage AND, we will  be performing the National Anthem in the JW style.  Don't know what that style wiil be yet, but rest assured, JW will put his stamp on the song.  We're honored to be asked to perform this, and to open our own North Florida blues festival.  Come on out and share your patriotic fervor with JW and the boys and enjoy the best blues on the First Coast!

Happy New Year!  We hope you hade a happy and safe holiday.  We had a pretty quiet time over the holidays, just a couple of gigs, but some real quality family time and some time to break in some of the new toys Santa left under the tree for us.  Ja's got some new harps, Coop's got a new bass and Joseph got some Basil Hayden.   We're also looking forward to a new year of festivals, concerts and radio ariplay, bringing the blues to you, you and you.

To start the year off right, we will be the featured band for the first Daytona Blues Society Wednesday night jam of 2006!  If you get a chance, come on out and dance the night away with us at the Bank and Blues on Main St. in Daytona Beach.  The jam is a great place to hear some great blues and support a new very active local blues society.  Phil Reed will be hittin' the skins for us and Don Ouelette will probably be on guitar.  If you haven't seen our lineup with these talented two, you're really missing out!

On the 13th and 14th, Coop will be helping out some friends from the Daytona Blues Society in getting a new band and a new venue on the scene.  If you get a chance, come on out to the Circus II lounge on US1 in Holly Hill for some new blood on the local blues scene!

JW&TBA on the air!  In addition to our local airplay on 100.7 and 88.5, we're also set for airplay on WUCF (89.9) in Orlando and WFRG (89.3) in Atlanta!  In addition, there are a couple of internet radio stations that are playing our stuff.  WUCF's blues show has a web presence, Smokestack Lightnin' and, all the way from France, Midnight Blues Radio.  If you're connected and you want your blues NOW, browse over and rock out!

December, 2005

Wow, I've been really lax on the news front lately!   October was really slow except for a wild Halloween weekend at Bourbon Street Station.  Check out the pictures for a few laughs!   November was great with a flurry of gigs right around Thanksgiving - headlining the Daytona Blues Society blues jam just before and a weekend at our favorite, Bourbon Street Station just after. Also, JW performed at the Daytona Blues Society's stage at the Beer and Blues festival.  He wowed the crowd so much they shut down a competing stage (featuring Lauren Ellis) because everyone over there and on stage wanted to hear the Ja-monster.

This month is starting to pick up with gigs in Gainesville and St. Augustine.  The St. Auggie gig is a private party for our friends at Peoples First Bank.  We played for their party last year and they loved us so much, they wanted us again.  The gig in Gainesville is for Klaus Fine Jewelers on 43rd St on Sunday, December 11th from 11am to 4pm.  It's open to the public and, with the bar and food spread that the Klaus' put out plus the music, it's a great event.  We are waiting to hear back on a New Year's Eve gig in St. Augustine, so stay tuned!  In other news, we are also waiting for confirmation on our selection to perform at this year's Springing the Blues festival in Jax Beach April 1st.  Whether or not we play at the festival, we are pushing to get a gig that weekend at Bourbon Street or Your Place to take advantage of the blues crowd that will be in town.

DECEMBER UPDATE - Our gig at Klaus Jewelers was a great time!  Fantastic food, fun folks, beautiful jewelry and some hot, hot blues.  Good thing, 'cause it was chilly and gray!  Ken Royal was on the skins for the day, always a treat!  At the gig, we caught up with Bill Barnard, the President of the North Central Florida Blues Society (http://www.ncfblues.org/) and he let us in on his organization and the fact that they have a blues jam on the 3rd Sunday of every month!   If you're interested in jamming in Gainesville, check out their website for details.  We also shared the blues of too few venues and too much karaoke.  He's in a band (The Unusual Suspects) and his site has some cool live tracks.

Another bit of news, perhaps a bit pre-emptive, but all signs look good...  We have been invited to perform at this year's Springing the Blues festival in Jacksonville Beach.  We haven't gotten confirmation, but it's looking good.  We will be performing on the small stage, April 1st sometime in the late afternoon.  Just a 1/2 hour set, but we hope that little taste of JW's "special sauce" will put us on the big stage next year.  Check back with the news section for details of the confirmation and the schedule.  Plan on being down there to support the blues in general and us in particular!

Confirmation of the Springin' the Blues festival performance - got the contract.  We'll be playing on Sunday, April 2nd on the West Stage.  Come on out and get your Sunday afternoon filled with JW and the boys' brand of blues!

Hope to see you soon!

September, 2005

This summer has really proven to us that when it rains it pours.  From last month's drought to a blowing tropical storm, from one or two gigs to every weekend filled - not that we're complaining!  We had a great weekend at Bourbon Street Station, as always, on the 2nd and 3rd.  Those folks are great and the venue is awesome.  If you haven't seen us there, you're missing a great treat.  We can really cut loose and have fun with the audience and we love playing there.

Later in the month, JW is going to be playing an all-acoustic gig at Marvin's Steak and Barbecue near the World Golf Village.  That's a fun gig and a real chance to see an intimate JW that you don't see when we're all electric.  Speaking of quiet gigs, we're playing as a 4-piece band at a new venue for us, AJ's Restaurant and Lounge on San Marco Blvd. in St. Augustine (right near the big cross, where Sharkey's used to be).  Up to now, Bill Miller and the Palm Beach Connection has been playing there, but the boss wants to mix it up a bit, so we're coming in to serve up some blues along with the NY Strips.

On the 24th, we'll be going back to one of our favorite Jacksonville haunts, Your Place on Atlantic Blvd, between 9a and the Intracoastal.  We had an absolute blast last time we played there and ran into some real blues fans.  We're glad they could squeeze us in the schedule and we're looking to rock the house out!

On a more somber note, our thoughts and wishes go out to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  We all know that the devastation on the Gulf Coast could just as easily happen here in St. Augustine.  In New Orleans, JW  played in many of the clubs that are still underwater and a lot of old friends have not been heard from yet.   Since we're blues players, it's obvious none of us are millionaires, but we're going to help where we can.  All this month, the contributions made to "Phil" will be going to the American Red Cross to help in the relief efforts.

Hope to see you soon!

August, 2005

The dog days of summer are definitely upon us and our schedule has slowed to a crawl.  On the 17th, we were the featured performing group at the Wednesday night blues jam hosted by the Daytona Blues Society.   These are a great bunch of folks doing a great service establishing and promoting the Blues.  JW and Coop have been hitting the jam every now as then (as our gasoline budgets allow) and this is the first time we had a full band there.  The blues jam is held at the Bank and Blues, a great club on Main St. in Daytona Beach with a Blues legacy longer than your arm.  We played to a great crowd and put on a great show.  JW was in rare form, testifying and storytelling to a floor full of folks dancing it out.   Phil Reed, a powerhouse of a drummer, and Don Ouellette, a great guitarist, joined JW, Coop and Handsome Joe to round out the set.  It was a great performance for a great group of Blues fans.  If you get a chance to get down to Daytona on a Wednesday night, stop by the Bank and you'll be treated to some great Blues.  Also, don't forget to visit the Daytona Blues Society's website and check out the upcoming schedule.  It's rather impressive, especially for an organization so young.  There's a link to their site on our links page.

JW and Keith played a duet gig at Marvin's Steak and Barbecue over at the World Golf Village on the 12th.  The all-acoustic gig was a good show, a lot lower-key than the full band show and much more like what you would hear on a street corner in Clarksdale than on a stage.

A few weeks ago, JW spoke to an old friend and mentor, Tabby Thomas.  Tabby's a blues legend, one of the founders of the Baton Rouge sound or, as he calls it, "Swamp Blues."  He mentioned that the CD we had sent him a couple of months ago has been getting good airplay on the Blues radio shows in his neck of the woods.  Folks over there love that sound and don't be surprised if we hit the road for a weekend in Louisiana!  We're also on the air in Germany, Argentina, Venezuela and Australia.  Hmmm....maybe we can con Tabby into introducing us to his European booking agent...

As far as September gigs go, you can start the month off right at one of our favorite clubs, The Blue Room at Bourbon Street Station in Jacksonville.  We'll be there on the 2nd and 3rd, from 9-1:30am.  After that, look for upcoming dates at Panama Hatties, Calico Jack's and Cortesses Bistro.  Check the calendar for dates on upcoming shows.

On Sunday, the 21st of August, there will be a benefit concert/jam at Cafe 11 in St. Augustine Beach for local blues guitarist Vince Jeffs.  Vince has sat in with us on several occasions and he's a great guitarist and really great guy.  Come on by Cafe 11 and help support Vince and the Blues.

Hope to see you soon!

July, 2005

Wow, is it scorchingly hot these days!   We've been tearing it up recently, with a performance at the Serenata Beach Club in South Ponte Vedra.  It was a great show in a spectacularly beautiful club.  We had the dance floor crankin' with a beautiful view of the ocean and a room full of ribs!   The Serenata folks know how to throw a party and we were glad to be a part of it!   Thanks to Eric and the staff for making it a great night.

You've got two more nights to see us this month.  On the 22nd and 23rd, we will be playing at Bourbon Street in Jacksonville from 9-1:30 in the (aptly named) Blue Room.  If you haven't been there before, Bourbon Street is an experience not to be missed and we love playing there.  The staff is great and the folks come to dance the night away!  If you get a chance, come on out!

JW has also been playing at one of our old haunts, Marvin's Steak and Barbecue over at the World Golf Village.  He performed on the 8th and 9th with Wes Talton in an all-acoustic gig.  It's a rare chance to see Ja in a more intimate setting, more "front porch" than "on stage".  Check the calendar for upcoming dates - I'll post them as soon as JW lets me know.

Remember, you can get your copy of "Choice Cuts, Volume 1" at CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/jwgilmore.   You can listen to samples and you can order securely right on line.  Hope to see you at a show this month!

June, 2005

Our shows last week were a blast!   We played at the Pirate's Cove hotel in Daytona Beach Shores to a good crowd and an awesome location.  Right on the beach, great pool, beautiful place to have a beer on the beach with some live blues.  The crowd really got into it and there was some spirited dancing on the floor!  The Daytona folks love their blues!  On the 18th, we played in Palatka for the Palatka Arts Council.  We were originally scheduled to play outside at the amphitheater on the river, but Mother Nature had other plans.  Rain drove us inside to the Arts Council HQ with has a great black box theatre.  Great sound, super audience.  We put on one of the best shows in recent memory and the pics will be up soon to prove it!  The folks loved it and we hope we get to see more of Palatka.  Thanks to the Arts Council and to Dean Parrish for setting that one up!

Last Minute Booking!  We got a call from our friends in the Out of Hand band to help out a club owner who had a Friday night bailout and we happened to have the night open.  We're playing at a new venue for us, Your Place bar and grill on Atlantic Blvd in Jacksonville.  Come on out and help us inaugurate this part of town to the JW Gilmore experience!

Norman just gave us the "thumbs up" for another weekend at one of our favorite haunts, Bourbon Street Station in Jacksonville late next month.  It's a great club (or set of clubs) where we can really get loose and funky.  Come on out and see us at one of Jacksonville's largest and most exciting clubs.

JW has been invited to perform at this year's prestigious Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston, SC.  He'll be fronting a pick-up band called "The Mudbugs" which is really our buddy Shrimp City Slim and his pals.   Great road trip for some great music.

Our compadres at the Daytona Blues Society have hooked us up with our first Daytona-area gig.  The Society is a new, fledgling one who has done an amazing job in the short time they've been operating.  The have a scholarship program, they have the only dedicated blues jam in the area at an awesome club, they tirelessly promote the blues and they are just friendly folks.  Ja and Brad have been going down occasionally for their Wednesday night jam and having a great time with some great players.  If you want to jam the blues, come on out - it's really worth the drive.  Anyway, we'll be playing at the Pirate's Cove restaurant, just south of Daytona on A1A (A1A and Dunlawton Ave.) on the 17th.  Johnny will be on the skins again, breaking in his new set of Tamas, and Joseph will be breaking in his new Motion Sound rotating speaker amp (it's an organist thing) so come on out!  We'll be in our backyard the next day, playing an outdoor concert in Palatka on the night of the 18th.  That one should be beautiful, in the amphitheater right on the river.   Come on out, grab a shake at Angel's and dance to the blues under the stars...

Don't forget, you can also get your copy of "Choice Cuts, Volume 1" at CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/jwgilmore.   You can listen to samples and you can order securely right on line!

May, 2005

It's been a quiet month for us, giving us a little personal time and time to "woodshed" some new tunes.  We're back on the trail next month, but March has been exceptionally quiet.

One change is the addition of the "Shameless Swag" section of the website.  From here, you can get t-shirts, hats, barbecue aprons and even the coveted JW Gilmore thong...

You can also get your copy of "Choice Cuts, Volume 1" at CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/jwgilmore.   You can listen to samples and you can order securely right on line!

Next month we'll be traveling up and down the coast with gigs in Daytona Beach, Palatka and Jacksonville.  Keep your eyes on the calendar for more details!

April, 2005

Last Minute Booking!  On Friday, April 8th, the boys will be bringing the blues back to Allison's on Anastasia starting at 9pm.   Allison's was where we first started coming together as a band, so it will be a bit like "old home week" for us (even if Alicia won't be there...).  Recently, Allison's been having to book more "dance" bands to get more crowd.  Let's turn that around and get the blues back in the Ancient City!  Come on out and see us in our old haunt.  Johnny Mayfield will be on the drums again and, since we'll be in town, who knows who'll stop by and sit in; Roland Fleming? Tony O? Rick Levy?  Who knows?  Come on out for a great night - no cover, good food and one of the best beer and wine selections in town.

Our April 1st show at Bourbon Street Station was a great deal of fun!  We had a good crowd, despite the raging thunderstorms outside.   Johnny Mayfield was our drummer and he smoked the skins!  Jen kept us topped up with our beverages of choice and showed us what a demon of a swing dancer she is.   She didn't get a chance to dance on the bar, but we've got 4 more nights there this month.  Speaking of Bourbon Street, check out the calendar for the dates of our upcoming performances.

Our CD is finally ready for sale!  You can get one at a show or you can order on the internet from CD Baby.  Just follow this link: http://www.cdbaby.com/jwgilmore and you can listen to samples and you can order securely right on line!

HOT NEWS FLASH!!  We've picked up yet another date at Bourbon Street Station, Friday, April 1st!  Come on out and have some fun with the guys.  With it being April Fool's Day, one never knows what JW will have up his sleeve...  We'll also have a new drummer with us, Johnny Mayfield, a Jacksonville veteran of the local rock, orchestral and theatrical music scene.  If all works out well, we should have the CD ready for sale there.  It's been a long time in coming, but we had no idea the demand for our first effort would be so high.  We originally produced it as a demo but when folks started hearing it on the radio, we got all sorts of calls and emails.  Now it's about to be ready for sale and this Friday might be the day!  Thanks for all of your support!  We love you guys!

We had a great time at the Rhythm & Ribs festival here in St. Augustine.  Lisa Mack Productions provided the sound and she did a great job, as always.  Thanks again, Lisa!  We had a great crowd and a picture-perfect day.   In addition to our regular cast of folks, we had Ken Royal on the drums.  Man, that cat can play!  If you haven't been out to hear us with Ken, you're missing a great treat.  The day went well and all for a good cause.   The other big news is that you can now take a little bit of JW home with you!  That's right, we are now selling our CD Choice Cuts, Vol. 1.  This CD includes the cuts that have been heard on WFCF (Flagler College Radio, 89.9 FM) for the past few months on the Saturday and Sunday blues shows.  You can pick one up at a performance or (soon) we'll be selling them online through CD Baby.

The Bourbon Street Station report:  fantastic!  We played a new venue for us, Bourbon Street Station up in Jacksonville.  Thanks to our friend Jeremy King and Out of Hand for hooking us up with that one!  An amazing place with five bars under one roof.  We played in the appropriately named "Blue Room" where the vibe was cool and the band was hot!  Jen kept us plied with water and Red Bull (amongst other potables...) and the staff was great.  This was also the first night we played with Ken Royal, a St. Augustine-based drummer we've liked and respected for years.  He's a great player and you should come out and hear him!  Big big crowds and a very fun group to play for.  I'm sure we'll be getting more dates here.  Check out the calendar for the latest on our performances.

New gig alert!  We have been invited to play at this year's Rhythm & Ribs festival in St. Augustine at the special events field.  This is a   barbecue festival and competition, so it's guaranteed to be a good time.  Of course, there's nothing better with barbecue than blues!  We'll be playing from 3-5pm, closing out the festival.  Come on out and get your b-b-q on!

Boy, did we make some friends tonight!  On the 19th, Brad sat in with some friends from down Daytona-way, AfterHours featuring Shawn James, and was introduced to the Bank and Blues on Main St. as well as the Daytona Blues Society .  He was so impressed with it that he dragged Ja down there for the Society's regular Wednesday night blues jam.  What a great night!  Super players, super-nice folks and a great crowd looking for the blues.  Hopefully, we'll be playing there soon!

JW is traveling up to his old stomping grounds, Rochester, NY to play at a benefit for the NY State Democratic Party.  He'll be playing with some great players and looking forward to hitting Dinosaur Barbecue while up there to take off some of the chill.

The Superbowl tailgate party was a blast!  Huge crowds (duh!) and beautiful weather made for a great night of blues.  It's always awesome to be involved with a really big event, and it doesn't get much bigger than this (OK, we could have been playing with Sir Paul at halftime...maybe next year).  We had our old buddy Rick Ambrose on drums for this gig, and playing with him is always a treat.  All in all, a great experience.

Now there are more reasons to be heading to Alltel Stadium in February aside from that silly game - we're playing at a tailgate party on Saturday before the game!  Blues, barbecue and football, what a great combo.  If you're lucky (or rich) enough to be going to the Superbowl in Jacksonville this year, check us out at the "United We Tailgate" party at the barracks across from the Baseball Grounds.   Hope to see you there!

If you love that combination of mouth-watering ribs and hot steamy blues, come satisfy both masters at Marvin's Steak and Barbecue up near the World Golf Village.  We've got three nights there this month, the 7th, 22nd and 29th.  Come on by and get down to some blues and sticky with some sauce.
